Inclusion
At Berkswell C of E Primary School, we believe that every child is unique, valued and capable of achieving their full potential. Our inclusive approach is rooted in our Christian vision and commitment to ensuring that all children feel they belong within our caring school community. We strive to create a culture where every pupil is supported, challenged and encouraged to thrive academically, socially and emotionally.
Our inclusive culture is based on the following principles:
- Promoting high expectations for every child, recognising individual strengths and needs, and ensuring all pupils are supported to achieve their very best as learners, achievers and valued members of our school community.
- Providing equitable opportunities for all pupils through a broad, balanced and engaging curriculum that is carefully adapted to meet individual needs while enabling every child to access meaningful learning experiences alongside their peers.
- Identifying and responding to needs at the earliest opportunity, using effective assessment and strong partnerships with families and external agencies to ensure appropriate support is in place and barriers to learning are reduced.
- Nurturing wellbeing and belonging, creating a safe, supportive environment where every child feels respected, understood and valued for who they are, and where diversity is celebrated.
- Developing confident, independent and resilient learners by fostering curiosity, a love of learning and the skills children need to succeed both now and in the future.
- Embedding Christian values, including friendship, respect, compassion and forgiveness, to help children build positive relationships, understand others and contribute positively to their community and wider society.
We will know we have been successful when:
- All pupils make strong progress from their individual starting points and are supported to achieve their potential.
- Children report that they feel safe, included, respected and valued within our school community.
- Families and stakeholders recognise Berkswell C of E Primary School as a welcoming and inclusive school where diversity is celebrated and every child belongs.
- Our curriculum, teaching and support enable pupils to develop the knowledge, skills, confidence and character needed to flourish in the next stage of their education and beyond.
- Pupils leave Berkswell C of E Primary School as secure, independent and compassionate young people, ready to use their love of learning to make their way in the world with confidence, character and hope.
