Berkswell School recognises the importance of offering a broad range of extra-curricular activities. The school tracks involvement of all the children to ensure every child has at least one area they have participated in across the year.
Why Extra‑Curricular Clubs Are Important in Primary School?
They build confidenceChildren try new activities, discover what they’re good at, and feel proud of themselves. That confidence spills over into their schoolwork.
They develop social skillsClubs mix children from different classes and year groups. Children learn teamwork, sharing, communication, and how to make friends outside their usual circle.

They help children find their interestsNot every child shines in the classroom. Clubs give them space to explore passions— woodwork, drama, chess, cooking—whatever their interests.

Children also experience a wide variety of educational visits across the year, these often have a specific curriculum base, but also include theatre visits etc.
In Year 5 and 6 the children have two residentials, in Year 5 to Rock UK and in Year 6 to Devon, where they experience many outdoor adventure activities, including surfing and coasteering.
